Together with HK Kourosh Pourkian, State Councillor Jacqueline Charlier experienced an evening of culture, dialogue and genuine Tajik hospitality at a reception hosted by the HK of Tajikistan.
TAJIKISTAN IN HAMBURG
Tajikistan is closer than many imagine – and more relevant than many realise. During the Long Night of the Consulates 2026, Honorary Consul Kourosh Pourkian presented a country that impressively combines culture, hospitality and economic opportunity.
AN ECONOMY WITH A FUTURE
For entrepreneurs and investors, Tajikistan represents a strategic location in Central Asia. With approximately 30,000 kilometres of road infrastructure, abundant natural resources, a strong agricultural sector, significant infrastructure needs and an outstanding green energy profile, the country offers considerable potential. Nearly 98 per cent of its electricity is generated from hydropower, while its theoretical hydropower capacity exceeds 527 billion kWh annually.
YOUNG PEOPLE. GREAT OPPORTUNITIES
Tajikistan’s young population is of particular interest to Northern Germany. Around two-thirds of the population are under the age of 30. This creates promising opportunities for educational partnerships, cooperation in skilled workforce development and qualified pathways to Germany, particularly in the fields of crafts, construction and elderly care.
A COUNTRY FOR EXPLORERS
For travellers, Tajikistan opens the door to an authentic world of majestic mountains, crystal-clear lakes and ancient Silk Road routes. Dushanbe, the Hissor Fortress, Iskanderkul Lake, the Seven
Lakes, Panjakent, Khujand and the legendary Pamir Highway make the country a remarkable destination for explorers. Access is straightforward: German citizens may enter Tajikistan visa-free for up to 30 days.
ENCOUNTERS THAT ENDURE
For lovers of culture, the evening offered music, traditional costumes, photography, conversation and plov – alongside a value deeply rooted in Tajik society: the belief that a guest is a “gift from God”.

Honorary Consul Kourosh Pourkian summarised the evening in these words: “Tajikistan was not merely presented that evening – it was experienced. Through open hearts, lively conversations, music, plov and genuine curiosity. For us, 35 years of independence are not simply an anniversary; they are an invitation: to travel, to invest, to educate, to cooperate, and to discover a country where every guest is welcomed as a gift from God.”

With great appreciation, HK Kourosh Pourkian received the art volume “Bobur Ismoilov – Apostrophe” from Dr. Manuchehr Kudratov – a gift of friendship and an invitation to explore the vibrant cultural landscape of modern Central Asia.
In the springtime setting of the HK’s garden, guests enjoyed conversation, companionship and the Tajik national dish plov.
Music as a Bridge Between Cultures
Iraj Heet, an acclaimed pianist and guitarist of NOWRUZ heritage, and violinist Farhad Anoush filled the garden of the Honorary Consular Representation with warm and evocative melodies – a moving moment. Tajikistan was truly experienced through sight, sound and emotion.
