Quebec – National Day on June 24

18.06.2026
On June 18, the Delegate General of the Government of Québec Office in Berlin, Geneviève Rolland, invited guests to the Turmsalon at the Brandenburg Gate on the occasion of the national holiday.

In very good German, she reported in her welcoming speech on the close cooperation in the political, institutional, cultural, educational, scientific, technological, and economic relations between Quebec and Germany.

Quebec’s economy is among the most powerful in North America, and especially aerospace, information and communication technology, biotechnology, forestry, and mining are significant. Quebec has ambitious climate goals, and it plays a pioneering role in hydropower, as 99 percent of electricity comes from sustainable and renewable energy sources. Germany is one of Quebec’s most important European trading partners.

In addition to cooperation in technical fields, there are also close contacts in science. Cooperation is particularly strong in the areas of artificial intelligence, medicine, environmental research, and engineering sciences. Not to be forgotten are the cultural ties and the increasing importance of tourism.
