Berlin’s Excellence in Health Care. In November 2024, the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Berlin hosted an exclusive Medical Reception in collaboration with visitBerlin.

Set against the sophisticated backdrop of the Library on the 15th floor, this gathering served as a focal point for highlighting Berlin’s position as a leading medical destination. The evening, marked by engaging discussions and networking, brought together distinguished medical specialists from Berlin’s top clinics, representatives of embassies, and health department officials.

Among the distinguished attendees were Prof. Dr. med. Max Heiland, Medical Director of the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Prof. Dr. med. Boris Bigalke, Chair of Cardiac Imaging and renowned specialist in nutrition, both from Charité. Joining them were Prof. Dr. med. Cemil Özcelik, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Cardiology at Helios, as well as PD Dr. med. Sven Scheffler and Dr. med. Frank Schneider, leading experts in knee replacement from Sporthopaedicum.

With over 30 medical facilities listed and 80 specialists across a wide array of disciplines, the city continues to set benchmarks in patient care. The reception underscored Berlin’s strengths as a global medical destination. Attendees shared insights on innovative treatments, explored partnerships, and celebrated the city’s leadership in healthcare. Michaela Kehrer, Medical Tourism Manager at visitBerlin, emphasized Berlin's commitment to excellence: “This event showcases the extraordinary expertise and collaboration that Berlin offers to the world.” The Medical Reception also provided a forum for cultural and professional exchange, reflecting Berlin’s diverse and inclusive healthcare ecosystem.
