H.E. Archbishop Dr. Hubertus van Megen, Apostolic Nuncio and Doyen of the Diplomatic Corps, welcomed the guests
On the occasion of the beginning of his mission in Germany, the Apostolic Nuncio and Doyen of the Diplomatic Corps, Archbishop Dr. Hubertus van Megen, hosted an invitation at the Apostolic Nunciature on November 3rd.
In his welcoming address, he highlighted the significance of diplomacy, which plays a highly important role especially in these turbulent times. "Diplomacy is the art of encounter that never comes to an end." Diplomacy is meant to bring together what elsewhere ended in conflict or even war. Exchange and tolerance form the basis for mutual understanding, even if it requires a great deal of time and patience. The foundation for encounters between partners was, is, and remains honesty and reliability, which can only be achieved with goodwill. The guests were particularly impressed by the warm manner with which the Nuncio turned the reception into a special evening. Thank you for that.
