On August 4, there was a huge explosion in the port of Beirut. Six days later, the government of Prime Minister Hassan Diab resigned under pressure from demonstrations in the country. The diplomat's main task was to quickly form a new government in order to introduce necessary reforms in the country. However, the political groups failed to reach agreement during the talks. The Prime Minister-designate informed President Aoun at the end of September that he was withdrawing from the task.
Ambassador Adib has been Ambassador to Germany since 2013. After completing his doctorate in law and political science, he taught constitutional and international public law as well as international relations at various universities in Lebanon and France. In 2011 former Prime Minister Najib Mikati appointed Dr. Adib as head of cabinet.
